Unemployed graduates aged over 35 years assembled in front of the Governor’s Office in Jaffna yesterday at around 9.30 a.m.
Earlier, they handed over a memorandum requesting that the age limit for the vacancies of Development Officers, published by the Ministry of National policies and Economic Development be changed from 35 to 45.
The Governor who received the memorandum promised the graduates that he will take the matter to the relevant Ministry and obtain a solution for them.
Afterwards, they proceeded to the CM’s secretariat and handed over their memorandum to the Private Secretary of the CM, S.Rajathurai at around 3.30 p.m.
Commenting on their Memorandum the unemployed graduates said that, the Ministry of National policies and Economic Development had called for applications for the post of Development Officers in the gazette. Higher age limit had been restricted to 35 years. But there are more than 100 unemployed graduates in the Northern Province.
We have handed over memorandum including this aspect to the Governor and the Chief Minister, they said.
