US Human Rights Official in meeting with Democratic Militants Party

A meeting was held in Jaffna between the Democratic Militant Party, the State Human Rights Officer for US  Christina James and Chief Political Secretary of US Embassy, Seanne Ruthe. The difficulties encountered by the role of the former militants in the political arena after the war were discussed in this meeting.

Attention was paid on the stringency of the security forces on the Porazhis in the contemporary period, struggles undertaken in the mother land to redeem the lands, the Government’s non-constructive activities of the Government relevant to Accountability and the impact of excessive presence of the Military in North and East.

The solution for the distresses gangrened the country of Sri Lanka for a long time is not only devolving to the North and East, but also to the other Provincials. America believes that the election victories scored by the Porazhis in democratic Political space will be the permanent solution to permanent security and economical problems, it was informed.

It was also revealed that US will continue to work constructively in conjunction  in matters of interests of Tamil People.
