Varatharajaperumal as the TNA’s CM candidate, a Sinhala media speculates

The first CM of the merged N&E, Varatharajaperumal is speculated to join the TNA, by a Sinhala Media.

One of the founder Leaders of EPRLF, Varatharajaperumal is still a member of the EPRLF but does not engage in active politics.

A Sinhala Media has published a news item that, Varatharajaperumal is to contest the CM election on a TNA ticket.

Varatharajaperumal won the 1988 PC elections of the merged N&E and was sworn in as the first CM of the merged PC. However after the PC was dissolved in 1990 he went to India and lived their under the sponsorship of the Indian Government.

Returning to the country after the end of the war , he joined the Pathmanaba faction of the EPRLF.

It is notable that the EPRLF was split into two in 1990, and the faction led by the then Secretary General of the Party, Suresh Premachandran was granted the Official Legal Rights including the  official name and the symbol of the Party.
