Vidya’s Case – Deputy Solicitor General summarize:  Charges against 4 accused Proved 3 aided and abetted  no witness against 2

Summary of the Prosecution side was delivered yesterday by Deputy Solicitor General, P.Kumaratnam  yesterday.  Delivering his summary he said that the charges against 2nd accused, Jeyakumar, 3rd Accused Thavakkumar, 5th accused Chandrahasan, and 6th Accused Thusanth, have been proved beyond reasonable doubts. The charges of plotting the incident aiding and abetting it also have been proved beyond reasonable doubt through testimonies. Charges against the 1st and 7th accused could be proved beyond doubt.

The accused were charged with 41 counts and the accused denied every charge individually and said they are not guilty.

Uthayasoorian Sureshkaran who was named  as the 11th suspect in the case and later turned into state witness and testified in the TAB. He said in his testimony that 5th, 2nd and 3rd accused dragged Vidya into a an abandoned house and raped her repeatedly taking turns. They poked the inner garments into her mouth to prevent shouting. He also said that they repeatedly photographed and videoed the raping act.

The Deputy Solicitor General delivered his summary for 5 hrs. During his submission he also told that “Swizz Kumar” accepted trying to bribe IP Nishantha Silva through one Ibran. The Defence is scheduled to deliver their summary today.
