Village of first CORONA patient of North, Thavady under strict control of Security Forces- 300 families isolated

Thavady, the village in Jaffna where the first Corona patient was identified has been brought under the strict security of Security forces and health Officials, and around 300 families had been isolated there, said the Government Agent of Jaffna, Kanapathypillai Mahesan.

A Christian Pastor, who came from Switzerland for prayer meeting at the Philadelphia Church located in Ariyalai and returned to Switzerland had been identified to be infected with Corona virus. Following this detection 182 persons belonging to 80 families who attended the Prayer Meeting had been brought under the control of Security Forces.

The first person identified to be infected with Corona is from Thavady village and had been alleged that he conversed with the above pastor in a room.

The village has been isolated and sprayed with  anti- virus medicine and it is said that they will not be allowed to move out although the 3-day long curfew had been lifted at 6.00 a.m. today. Arrangements have been made to provide essential items to them, he further said.
