Vivek gets candid about ‘Yennai Arindhaal’

With ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ set for release, all eyes are now on how Ajith carries the film forward with the stylish film-making of Gautham Menon. One name predicted to be a plus factor in the movie is actor Vivek. Vivek, who ruled as the comedy king not long ago is set to grab the audience’s attention with this different role as he says in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’. The actor revealed interesting facts about the film, about Gautham Menon and his friendship with ‘Thala’ Ajith. Vivek answered to the question of Gautham Menon saying that he was the first choice to play Ganesh’s role in ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’. He felt disappointed and feels often that he couldn’t do the role, but watched Ganesh’s performance and was wowed by it.

He also addressed about his relationship with Gautham right from the days of ‘Minnale’. He said the ‘Minnale’ Gautham was 13 years younger and a debutant and so was very vibrant yet tensed. He used to come to shoot in a bike. But with ‘Yennai Arindhaal’, Gautham now has 13 years of experience behind him. He handles things in a matured way, but with the same love and affection. Things have changed drastically and today he comes to work in an Audi. Vivek then opened up on his role in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ saying the character is a person who carries himself, according to the situation and someone who’s serious at times, but can be mischievous too. The character is bound to make the audience laugh as well as think. He finally hopes his comedy scenes will overcome editor Anthony’s ‘scissors’ during the edit.

When asked which Ajith he considers his pal – ‘Kadhal Mannan’ Shiva or ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ Satyadev – to which he replied saying, Shiva is a youthful lover boy while Satyadev is a responsible Police officer and both of them are his best friends. He also shared his experiences interacting with ‘Thala’ fans across all social networking platforms saying they care a lot for Ajith and constantly wanted to be updated on him and the movie. In one word, he described ‘Thala’ fans as ‘tremendous’. Vivek then went on to describe Trisha as “sweet and feminine” and Anushka as “clever and charming”. Addressing the question of his shift from being a Periyaar follower to a Baba devotee now, he said he’s spoken about Periyaar’s principles such as women education, his stand against communities and superstitious beliefs in all his films. It was only the foolishness and furious-ness in religions he’s up against.

Finally, he answered how important ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ will be in his career saying he has a pivotal role and thanked Ajith for his love and affection (India Glitz).
