Volunteer workers of the Teaching Hospital to be made permanent
It had been announced that 127 volunteer workers of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital are to be made Permanent.
A team which came from the Ministry of Health had taken their details including their bio-data to Colombo, said the Acting Director of the hospital, Dr. Sri Bavanantharajah.
These volunteer workers engaged in protests insisting permanent appointment last year, and a section of them were given political appointments, causing some 40 odd volunteers leaving the service in frustration due to poverty.
A representative group of the un-appointed volunteers went to the Health Ministry directly and presented their case and they had been promised that they will be given appointment from first of next month, said they.
