War Exercise ” Cormorant” to start on Saturday on the Eastern coast

Local and foreign military men will take part in a Military Exercise named ” Cormorant” will be held from 3rd Saturday to 25th Sunday on the Eastern cost from Kokkilai to Panamai.

3,458 personnel including 49 foreign military personnel will be in field during this exercise.

MI17 and Bell 212 type helicopters, Kafir and Mig 27 attack aircrafts and the Special Squadron Attack Boats of the Navy will in use during the exercise.

These annual military exercises organized by the Sri Lankan Army are undertaken by local and foreign military men jointly from the year 2010. Major General Sunantha Ranasinghe is to act as the Director of “Military Exercise Cormorant – 2016”.

Prior to this exercise, a Defence Seminar with a theme of “Soft power and its influence over global affairs” will be held in BMICH today and tomorrow. Representatives from 71 countries including America, India, Pakistan and China  will participate in this Seminar.
