Minister Rajitha Senaratne , the spokesman for the President Maithripala Sirisena said that, no body will be handed over to the International Community to be tried for war crimes.
Answering queries in an interview, he said, ” I have heard Sarath Fonseka saying ‘Mistakes will occur during war’, but, if International Laws are breached in the incidents of killing the people who came with the white flag and killing the people who surrendered to the Army, these incidents will be investigated by a local mechanism and people responsible for these incidents will be punished, because they cannot kill people who have surrendered. But, we will not hand over anybody to the International Community to be tried for war crimes.
The International Community is nursing expectations with regard to the new Regime.
We have given promises of good governance.
