4th day of Mulliwaikkal commemoration amidst Police threats

The 4th day of the Mulliwaikkal commemorations were held in memory of people killed in 3 incidents in Jaffna. These commemorations were held sentimentally by TNPF amidst Police threats and bans.

In 1986, 31 Fishermen from Kurunagar were killed by Navy personnel in Mandaitheevu. Yesterday’s commemoration was held near the memorial tower in Kurunagar. People gathered near the memorial and the Police who came to the venue threatened and took photographs of the participants.

Following this commemoration was undertaken at the memorial to the people killed in aerial bombing at the St. James Church, Kurunagar in 1993.

Finally the commemoration was held at the memorial for people killed during the 4th Tamil Research conference held in Jaffna, after clearing the overgrown shrubs. However the Police OIC came to the spot and said that the social space had not been maintained and Corona danger is there. However the commemoration held with social space and Police OIC left the venue after taking photographs of the participants in his mobile  openly and threatening that legal action will be taken against the participants.
