Young Tamil cricketer dies in a cricket match in London
A young Eelam Tamil cricket player died on Sunday, when a cricket ball struck him with considerable force on his chest in London in a match.
PathmanathanBavalan (24), who was an old boy of Jaffna Hartley College, played for Manipay Parish SC (UK) in Division Three of the British Tamil League, was struck on the chest whilst playing at Long Ditton recreation grounds in the UK on Sunday July 5th.
He was given CPR and was treated by an ambulance that was called to the scene and air ambulance doctors, but subsequently passed away from his injuries.
Surrey CCC Chief Executive Richard Gould said: “Everyone at the club has been deeply saddened to learn of Bavalan’s death and would like to extend their sympathies to his family, friends and everyone who knew him from within the community of cricket.”
