I will act as a bridge for the North and South to reconcile, says the new Governor Suren

The first Tamil Governor for the Northern Province, Dr. Suren Ragavan took over his duties yesterday at the Governor’s Secretariat in Jaffna.

The new Governor was welcomed by the staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and Governor took over his duties with the blessings of religious dignitaries. Then followed, the welcoming addresses by the guests and the address by the Governor.

Several VIPs including Religious dignitaries, former Leader of the house, NPC, C.V.K. Sivagnanam, Jaffna Mayor, Emmanuel Arnold, Indian Consular S.Balachchandran, Chief secretary, NP, Government Agents of Jaffna, kilinochchi, and Mannar, Officers Commanding of the Northern Security Forces, High level officers of the Government institutions in the North, participated in the event.

Speaking to the guests afterwards, the new Governor said that his appointment is step taken in  upliftment of a province which has fallen due to war. He wish to be bridge between North and South, and that his immediate objectives are to give Tamil language, which is not at its required position even after 10 from the end of the war, its due prime position and the eradication of corruption in the Province.
