A five year project for Irrigation and Drinking water in the North is to be undertaken with 32,000 Million aid from Japan.
This project has been included in the NPC’s Budget for 2017. The CM, C.V.Wigneswaran announced about this project at the yesterday’s sittings of the NPC.
Elaborating further the CM said that Project ‘REACH’to be undertaken with 32,000 Million aid from Japanese Government will be of five years (2016 – 2020). This project will be implemented to include Rural Roads, Irrigation facilities. Under integrated Road Development scheme, 683.02 Kilometer long roads are to be renovated. 87 bridges are under construction. A project to improve Agricultural sector will be undertaken as a five year plan at a cost of 25Million.
Under the UNDP, a project will be undertaken to increase the capacity of organization with a view to establishing Good Governance in the North at a cost 20Million, he said.
