TGTE petitions Number Ten to take necessary steps to arrest Brigadier Priyanka Fernando
Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam- UK (TGTE-UK) handed in a petition yesterday to Downing Street urging the Prime minister to take necessary steps to arrest Brigadier Priyanka Fernando who had allegedly threatened with a throat slitting gesture, the Tamil People who demonstrated in front of the Sri Lankan Embassy in London during the Independence Day celebrations.
The petition demands the UK Government to remove his diplomatic immunity and charge him for his inappropriate gesture under domestic law.
The petition also calls on the UK government not to allow Sri Lankan Brigadier Priyanka Fernando from leaving UK and initiate actions under universal jurisdiction as United kingdom is being the Co- sponsor of the resolution 30/1 and 34/1 on Promoting Human rights Reconciliation Accountability and Human rights and as a Permanent member of Security council.
