10th year Commemoration of 5 students of Agricultural College, Vavuniya, massacred by the Army
1000th anniversary of the killing by Army of the 5 students of Agricultural College, Vavuniya, was held yesterday at the Vavuniya Agricultural College.
on 18th of November,2006 , while the the students were engaged in field practical, a Claymore attack was made on the Army. The hit the ground following the attack. The Army had called them to come to them and shot them dead.
Ramachandran Atchuthan(Kaluwanchikudy – aged 25), Suntharalingam Ainkaran(Kaluwanchikudi – aged 21), Sithiravel Kobinath (Trincomalee – aged 22), Sitheek Asan Nihan Mohamed(Eravoor – aged 22) and Thirunavukkarasu Sinthujan(Vavuniya – 21) were the students shot dead by the Army in revenge.
Their Memory was commemorated at the College yesterday and students paid their homage to them. A blood donation was held in memory of the students.
