140 Kilogram Kerala Ganja valued at 14 million rupees captured In Alli Rani Fort in Mannar
140 kilos of Kerala Ganja hoarded near Alli Rani Koddai in Mannar were captured yesterday, although no body was arrested.
Following a tip-off received by the police, they undertook a search and captured Kerala ganja packed in 5 bags. This lot of Ganja is now kept in the custody of the Narcotic Prevention division of the Mannar police, said the Officer in Charge of Narcotic prevention division, of the Mannar Police, SI, Uthayakumarasingam Kowsigan.
The ganja is presumed to be brought from India and hidden. No suspect was arrested, and further inquiries are being conducted by the police.
A Police team commanded by SI Kowsigan under the advice of the SP, Mannar, Siyantha Pieris and under the guidance of Chief OIC, Mannar Police, Ajantha Rodrigo had with the assistance of Navy Officer Commanding of the Silvathurai, captured the Ganja.
It is also notable that more than 100 kilos of ganja were captured in Jaffna District in the last 2 weeks.
