Information has leaked that the Jaffna International Air Port being slowly closed?
All staff of the Jaffna International Air port which was established during the last regime has been attached to the Mattala Air Port with effect from 17th November and the equipment and facilities are being shifted to Mattala and Katunayake Air Ports. Through this permanent closure of the Jaffna International Air Port is being effected.
A question has risen as to why the development activities have not been started, if the Air Port had been closed for Corona?
In a context where the Indian Government is still prepared to grant Rs. 300 crores for the 2nd stage of development, the development work could have been undertaken easily.
The intrigue to close the Airport has been exposed by the reluctance of the officials of the current Government to commence the 2nd stage of Development.
