161 former militants examined for toxic injections

Northern Provincial Council’s Ministry of Health, announced yesterday that 161 former militants were examined in connection with the poison injection affair, which had been continued for the sixth week.

Medical examinations were held for former Militants who had been released after rehabilitation, with regard to the poison injection affair for the  first week on the 2^nd of last month, 9^th  for the 2^nd week, 15^th and 16^th for the 3^rd week, 23^rd for 4^th week, 30^th for 5^th week and the 7^th of this month for the 6^th week.

29 from Jaffna District, 25 from Kilinochchi District, 95 from Mullaitheevu District, 7 from Vavuniya District and 5 from Mannar, a total of 161 militants had made availed themselves of the medical examination.

The numbers of militants took part on each week are as follows.

September 2^nd – 26      September 9^th  – 47      September 15^th, 16^th – 22         September 23^rd  – 30

September 30th – 21    October 7^th – 15

Similarly the examinations will held every week in the future, said the media unit of the Health Ministry.
