193 dangerous UXO recovered from Pulopallai from Jan – March 2017 by SHARP Demining Organization

The Technical Advisor to the SHARP Demining Organization, Prabath Narampanava said that the SHARP Demining Organization has recovered 193 extremely dangerous UXOs from 26,500 Square meters in the 3 months from the January to March 2017, from Puloppallai area of the Pachchjilaipalli DS Division.A Sports meet and a Lunch were held for the de-miners and their children, in order to avoid the mental stress of the workers, were held in Muhamalai day before yesterday.

Participating in this event, the Advisor   further said that during the period from 2016 November to December, the Sharp Humanitarian de-miners had completed removal of  UXOs in around 61,000 square Meters Ambakamam/Olumadhu area in Odduchuddan DS Division and had handed over the area to Mulaitheevu District Secretary to be handed over to the people for resettlement.

Engaging with a target of clearing 285,689 Square Metre area at the Pulopalai area, in Muhamalai, the SHARP de-miners had cleared a total of 26, 500 Square Metre area with the 3 months from January 2017,  recovering in the process, a total 193 UXOs including 103 anti-personnel mines, 81 Extremely dangerous  UXOs, and 9 vehicle mines.66 persons including 44 de-miners were engaged this dangerous task, he said.
