23 persons arrested in the last 30 days in the North under PTA, Mahintha’s style continues

23 persons including a woman were arrested within the last 30 days under the notorious Prevention of Terrorism Act.  Most of them were from the North and East and few from the south.

All of them except 3 are detained at the Boosa Prison. 2 are detained at the TID, Colombo and woman at Vavuniya.Arrest like these were rampant in the Mahindha regime and they apparently declined after regime change.

The sudden increase in the arrests had caused much concern to the Tamil people. It is notable that former militant released after rehabilitation in 2011 was re-arrested last Sunday by people who came in an ‘infamous’ white van.
