Vanni soil soaked in tears of Protesting relatives of missing persons and people from all 8 Districts of NE
A sentimental Hartal was undertaken in Kilinochchi yesterday. Thousands of people rallied in solidarity with the relatives of Missing persons. Kilinochchi soil was soaked in the tears of the relatives of persons made to disappear.
A massive attention drawing protest rally was undertaken by the relatives of the persons made to disappear in Kilinochchi yesterday demanding justice for the persons made to disappear and insisting that further time should be granted to GOSL in Geneva.
This protest was undertaken to reveal that the GOSL has not fulfilled any promises given to UN Human Rights Commission, condemning the non-deliverance of justice to them and and insisting that further time should be granted to GOSL in Geneva.
People from all 8 Districts of North and East, congregated in front the Kilinochchi Kandasamy Temple and commenced their protest rally at around 9.00 a.m.
The relatives of the persons made disappear took up the protest with tears and the photographs of their missing relatives and placard with slogans.
Answer us Government!

Were some of the slogans carried by protesters who sat on A9 under a scorching sun.
Following this the protesters proceeded through A9 to 155th Mile post and handed over a memorandum to the UN office there. VIPs of Political Parties, members of Parliaments, and Local Government Bodies, representatives of Public Organizations, members of the clergy and general public participated in the protest.
Notable absentees were Sampanthan, Mawai and Sumanthiran.
It is also notable that some persons alleged to be supporters of a politician of the area tried to disrupt the rally from the start , pulled wires out of Loud speaker bearing auto and threatened media men who were covering the event.
