No significant changes after regime change in par with Expectations of Tamils: NCP CM tells Australian Envoy
NPC CM, C.V.Wigneswaran had said to the Australian Ambassador, Robin Moody, who visited North yesterday that, no significant changes expected by Tamil people, had happened here, after the regime change.
The Australian Ambassador who reached by air at around 9.00 a.m. , met the Bishop of Jaffna earlier, at around 9.30 a.m. at the Bishop’s ,Jaffna.
Thereafter she met the CM at his residence at around 10.30 a.m.
Elaborating further about this meeting, the CM, Justice C.V. Wigneswaran said that, The High Commissioner had come here to find out about the changes that had occurred here after the regime change and had met a cross-section of people before returning back.
She did not ask for particular things but she inquired more about the situations that prevailed here and the changes that had occurred in them. She also inquired and found out about, the situation of democracy in the new regime and what are the new changes that, had occurred in the North. I told her that no significant change had been implemented in par with our expectations, he said.
He also said that, the High Commissioner had said that Australia will do whatever possible to promote understanding and re-conciliation.
