Proposals made to add two more Faculties to University of Jaffna
Activities have been commenced to create two more Faculties at the University of Jaffna. Proposals for this have been tabled in the Council meeting of the University, held yesterday.
The proposals for upgrading the Fine Arts College at Maruthanarmadam as Faculty of Fine Arts and the Sidha Ayurvedic College at Kaithady as Faculty of Sidha Medicine were tabled in the yesterday’s meeting of the University Council.
A Committee was earlier appointed by the Council , under the leadership of former VC, Prof. Pon Balasundarampillai to study the feasibility upgrading the Ramanathan Fine Arts College of the University as a Faculty and another Committee under the leadership of former VC, S.Mohanathas to study the feasibility upgrading the Sidha Ayuvedic College at Kaithady as a Faculty.
These committees after several meetings and field studies have submitted their recommendations and Project Proposals at yesterday’s Council Meeting.
It has been decided to place it in a special Senate Meeting to be held this month, and submit them to a special Council meeting and to submit a request for upgrading to the University Grant Commission with the recommendations of the Senate.
