Land acquisition prevented in Mandaitheevu

The attempt to acquire private land for the use of Navy at three junction area of Madaitheevu has been defeated.

The Survey Department personnel came for surveying the land yesterday.

However the land owner and peoples’ representatives gathered there and expressed their opposition for the acquisition.

Subsequently, the Survey Department personnel abandoned their surveying work and left after obtaining a letter from the owner that he is opposing the surveying.

Several people including the Secretary of Tamil National People Front, S.Gajendran, former  member of the NPC,Vinthan Kanagaratnam, Velanai PS member, Navalan were engaged in this protest activity..
