Depression may transform into Cyclone, Warning to North

Northern people have been warned that the depression that has formed in the Bay of Bengal may turn into a cyclone and heavy rains with strong winds are likely.

As there is a high possibility of the  cyclone will pass through Sri Lanka, the rainfall and strength of winds will increase through out the country, the Met. Dept has warned.

It has been determined that this cyclone will pass between Baticaloa and Point Pedro today evening or overnight. Rain or rain with thunderbolt will be received in the East and North and around 200mm rain is expected to be received, said the Met Department.
