Severe Damage in North due to Cyclone Purvi
The Northern Province has been subjected to severe damage due to the Cyclone Purvi which went through the Province. One has drowned in the flood water and 2 had gone missing. 6 were injured, the Disaster management Centre has announced. They have said further that more than 60 thousand persons belonging to 17,000 families had been affected by the cyclone and the resulting wind, rain and flood.
While 50 houses have been fully damaged and 300 houses partly damaged, the Centre said.
Meanwhile the senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Geography, N.Pradeeprajah has said that there is a likelihood for another depression on the 7th of this month.
