Release of political prisoners; Ariyanedran demands categorical response

Batticaloa Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Ariyanedran has demanded a categorical response from the new government on the release of political prisoners.

He made this request while addressing Parliament this week. He stated that the people of the north and east supported the election of President Sirisena to find solution to their problems.

He went on that they expected that the political prisoners will be released. But, that has not happened. There are obstacles placed in realizing it. If the President is willing, he can give a presidential amnesty to them.
