No decision on contesting with SLMC, Several door are open, says Basheer
The Sri Lanka Muslim President and former Minister Basheer Shehu Dawood had said that he will be deciding only in the final moment whether to Contest with the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress or to take an alternate decision in the impending General Election.
Basheer said like this when he was asked what is his stance is in the context of parliament being dissolved and notice for the General Election being announced.
Saying that, he had not taken any decision regarding his personal politics, he further said that, his decision will be announced only in the final 24 hours before Nominations.
Basheer further said that, he will be discussing the problems of the Batticaloa District and the plans to be drawn for the elections, with the party leadership and party hierarchy, and if the party accepts his plans he will be contesting with the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress. If not I will have go in search of alternate options he said.
When asked, what are your alternate options, “ Several doors are opened for me”, he said. While saying the he has no problem with the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Basheer also said that, his cleavage is due to the backwardness of a few in the leadership of the party.
“ As far as I am concerned, my first option is the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress. But if there are some conflicts in the approach with the leadership, deciding on alternate option will become unavoidable”, said Basheer to a news media.
