Ananthy to contest as independent candidate

In a context where Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) had declined an application to contest the elections in TNA ticket, Northern Provincial Council Illanaki Tamil Arasu Katchi member Ananthy has announced that she would contest the current election as an independent candidate.

 She is to submit nominations for the Jaffna district.

Ananthy had earlier accused that  Mawai Senathyrajah had blocked an offer made by EPRLF, for her to contest in the EPRLF ticket.

“I submitted an application to contest the elections on behalf of the Federal Party. No decision was taken on my application. But when the EPRLF offered one out of the two seat allocated for them to her, it was completely refused by the Leader of the (ITAK), Mawai Senathyrajah. Under no circumstances Ananthy should given a seat because she will not respect our control, he had said. As I am in the Federal Party, no other party could give a seat to me and they also will not give a seat he had said”  Ananthi said in  the Sakthi TV program on Sunday.

Howver, Mawai Senathyrasa had charged that Ananthy lies when she says that her nomination was refused due to his insistence. Mawai Senathyrasa stated that Ananthy was a liar. She never applied for nomination to the party. So, there was no question of refusal of her nomination.
