Ananthy desists from contesting

Northern Provincial Councilor Ananthy Sasitharan has stated that she has given up the idea of contesting as an independent candidate in the present election.

She would not contest the election opposing the Tamil National Alliance for that will weaken Tamil unity.

She added that the TNA was willing to offer nomination for elections but it was the Illankai Tamil Arasu KatchI that opposed it. She would remain within the ITAK and fight against it.
