TPPs resumed their fast unto death today with Release us on General Amnesty demand
In a context of the Nov 7th deadline of the president expiring yesterday, the Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs) have announced that they have resume their fast unto death today. They said they suspended their fast on promises from the President and TNA Leader Sampanthan on 17th.
In a meeting held recently at ‘Temple Trees’ presided by Ranil Wickremasinghe it was decided that at this moment there is no possibility of releasing TPPs on General Amnesty and to release TPPs kept without inquiries and those who had been charged in the courts on bail.
Accordingly it had been announced that, 32 TPPs will be released on bail day after tomorrow and 30 on 20th. The President had informed the TNA that, he will take a decision soon of releasing the 48 sentenced TPPs on General Amnesty. It was also announced that, the cabinet will take a decision on the balance TPPs.
