Full shut down today in homeland

A Hartal was observed in the North and the Eastern provinces demanding an amnesty for the Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs).

Daily routines were disrupted as shops were closed and government institutions including schools and Universities did not function in the districts of Jaffna, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Trincomalee , Batticaloa and Mullaitivu today.

The TNA  and TNPF had called everyone in the homeland to sentimentally support to the general strike organized today in the home land. All factions should give their full support to this Hartal for the TPPs in order to show the International Society and the GOSL our stance.

Commerce society, transport sector, Teachers’ associations, private sector and general public had pledged their support to this strike.

Medical and very essential services will operate without any hindrance the organizers said.
