Solution plan for Tamils in the new constitution: TPC forms 14-member Expert Sub Committee

In the context of the Government getting ready to draft a new constitution,

Solution Plan proposals including the aspirations and opinions of the Tamil People will be submitted to the Government to be included in the new constitution, said the Joint Leaders of the TPC after the conclusion of the 2nd meeting of the TPC, in a press conference held at around12.00 noon.

We have concerns about how the life of the traditions of Tamil people will be in the future and the constitution of the country should be in accordance with this. Our leaders did not accept the constitution of 1972. We are being subjected to various injustices, because of this. We have examined the constitution and identified several places where no security nor guarantee. If there are no concerns like this we will lose our land, our houses, our culture, and our Language.

When a political solution for our people is discussed, only the political parties cannot participate in it. Because, we are the affected people. We lived here during the war period. It is our duty to obtain correct solution for the losses and sacrifices. We are trying to do just that. Giving a political interpretation to it gives pain to the heart.

The Government is going to draft a new constitution. The problem now is how much of our problems we will be able to input into it. We have a duty of requesting particular matters should be included in the constitution. There is a necessity to draft proposal through our expert committee, peoplize it and then discuss it with the TNA. The TNA should draft proper solutions proposals.  Our objective is to assist TNA in this.

The Expert Committee consists of the following:

The senior member of ITAK and professor Emeritus, C.K. Sittampalam, Attorney at law,N. Kandeepan, Leader of PLOTE, T.Paranthaman, Leader of EPRLF, and former MP,   Suresh Premachandran,NPC Member, Sarveswaran, Leader of TNPF, Kajendrakumar Ponnampalam,  Attorney at Law, V.Manivannan, the spokesman of the Federation of Tamil Civil Societies and Attorney at Law, Kumaravadivel  Kuruparan, Attorney at Law P.Puvitharan, Senior Lecturer of university of Jaffna, K.T.Ganesalingam and Attorney at Law,  Xavier Wijeyakumar. Two more will be proposed by the NPC CM.
