TNA says it will not forgo the Chief Minister post in the east
It had been decided yesterday, at a special meeting of TNA, held under the leadership of R. Sampanthan, at Colombo not to forgo the Chief Minister post of the East, under any circumstance. It had also been decided to meet the President and the Prime Minister and discuss about this matter, said TNA Member of Eastern Provincial Council, R. Thurairathnam said .The TNA MPs in North and East and TNA members of the Eastern Provincial Council, participated in this meeting.

The Tamil National Alliance has the most number of seats as a single party. We are taking action to form the Government. Different parties have differing opinions stances regarding the Chief Minister Post. But we firm in the stance that the Chief Minister post should be given to the TNA. We were confronted with difficulties in the Eastern Province. The Eastern Provincial M embers of the TNA have to fulfil their responsibilities to the society. We have played a major role, in making the Tamil people to Vote for a change to the new President in the last Presidential Election. Particularly the Tamil people of the Eastern Province had voted in large amounts to the new President.
In this conjuncture the new Government should show some goodwill signals. The Government will show some goodwill signal, we believe.
Currently, The Tamil National Alliance is undertaking projects related to devolution of power. In this conjuncture, I expect that the Government will show the green flag for the formation of Government in the Eastern Province by the Tamil National Alliance and create a hopeful atmosphere to the Tamil people. Tamil people are considering that the alternate governments which came power.
