Kanniya hot springs area slowly converted to Buddhist

The Kanniya Hot Springs area in Trincomalee is being slowly converted into a Buddhist Sinhala area. It is afraid that this will eliminate the Hindu Tradition from there. Kinniya Hot Springs are one of the popular Tourist and Historical sites in Trincomalee.

There are seven hot water wells here each with a different temperature. Right from the start , there was a Hindu Temple near the wells. All these are connected with Hindu traditional stories.

Now a big Buddhist Statue is erected and Buddhist Devotional Songs are played here all day long.

While Buddha statues were erected and maintained by the Army, the said Sivan Temple is allowed to decay. There is nothing indicating a Hindu tradition here. Tourist who visit this area are returning with the thought that this is a Traditional Buddhist area.

A destruction of Hindu religious tradition is happening here , said Hindu enthusiasts. In some tourist spots army is charging entrance fees. Nobody knows where this money is going.

People demand that the Eastern Provincial Council take suitable action to stop this cultural aggression.
