Ranil sowed sorrow in the hearts of Vali North People: Society for Resettlement and Rehabilitation
Ranil had sown sorrow in the minds of Valli North people who were drowned in happiness by the promise of Maithripala Sirisena that they will be resettled in their own lands within 6 months. This will be a black mark in the rule of Good Governance, said A.Gunabalasingam, the President of the Society for Resettlement and Rehabilitation.
Gunabalasingam had stated the above in a press release issued in protest to Ranil Wickremasinghe, who participated in the National Pongal Celebrations in Jaffna not saying anything about releasing Vali-North lands and some media quoting Ranil as saying that the Myliddy Harbour cannot be released.
President Maithripala Sirisena who visited the North for the Christmas celebration went and met the IDPs in their camps and promised them that they will be settled in their own lands within 6 months. Because of that our were in happiness .But Prime Minister Ranil had conferred with the Army and kept mum regarding release of lands in Valli North. This had pushed our people into frustration. A situation had been created where we had to get together and fight for our lands. We want neither the development of harbor nor the development of Air Port. First our lands should be released.
If our struggle should not become a black mark to the Good Governance, release our lands, he had said.
