Conversing with Memories of Journalist P. Sathiyamoorthy , killed on mission by shell attack

A commemorative event in memory of the Journalist killed on mission during the final days of war P.Sathiyamoorthy  was held yesterday from 3.30p.m.  organized by the “Elu Kalai Illakiya Peravai” , with a theme of “Conversing with the Memories”at the Kumarasamy Hall of Jaffna Hindu College which is also the Alma Mater of the killed journalist.

Presided by writer Inuvaiyoor Chithambara Thiruchenthinathan,  the foster mother of the journalist Vettivel Thangarathnam garlanded the photograph of the journalist and lighted the traditional lamp, following two minutes silence for journalist killed during war, while, Secretary of the organization, Mayuraruban delivered the inauguration address.

Chenthinathan delivering his address remembered  18 years association and the formation years of the late journalist.

The Chief Editor of the Jaffna based News paper, “ The Valampuri”, N.Vijayasuntharam remembered his young days at Mandaitheevu till the displacement to Jaffna.

The Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital , Dr.Sathiyamoorthy remembered the travails and tragedies during the final months of war and the journalists dedication to report the truth in addition to his duties in his Department.

Poet Velanaiyoor Suresh, Journalist Ilankeeran and Poet, Kai. Saravanan  shared their contemporary experience with Sathiyamoorthy.
