Call to establish Law Faculty in University of Jaffna, by HC Judge M.Illamcheliyan
Jaffna High Court Judge M.Illanchelliyan put out a call to University Grants Commission to set up a full fledged Law Faculty in the University of Jaffa within another 2 or 3 years. He also said Jaffna Law Faculty will be will have the inherent talent to produce Judges and Lawyers in the caliber of G.G.Ponnambalam, Thanthai Chelva, and M.Thiruchchelvam. Resource persons are available in plenty in Jaffna and are willing to help if invited.
Addressing university students he said that those in the Legal profession or in the University administration did not like see them behind bars. He was addressing the gathering at the 10th Law Faculty Alumnus Jubilee – Thasa Vizha- and the publication of the annual Law Faculty Magazine Neetham.
He also said that the Kerala Ganja menace, Child abuse, drug abuse, and sword wielders had been brought under control due strict actions of Judges all over the Province. We are delivering justice free and fair in order to protect the society, he said.
