The University community of University of Jaffna held a protest rally yesterday demanding justice for Harishnevi. The sexual violence against children and women are on the increase without any race discrimination but, trends in Tamil areas indicates a minutely plotted guile to degrade our values. this is so minute that those excesses are made to be committed by our own people, said the students.

Mullaitheevu Women’s society calls for ultimate punishment to Sexual offenders.

Staging a protest against the injustice done to the innocent school girl Harisnevi, the women’s Society of Mullaitheevu had submitted a memorandum to the District Secretry Mullaitheevu calling for ultimate punishment to lustful persons committing sexual offences against children and women.

The All Ceylon Hindu Association had issued a news item stating that it is strongly condemning the barbarous rape and the beastly murder thereafter of the 13 years old Harinevi. Although we have fought against these beastly acts no solution had been found for this. People’s minds are pained by the perpetrators not being punished.
