Army is the Blockade to the Development of Kilinochchi. They should get out en masse, Resolution passed at CC meeting
A resolution calling for the Army which is blocking the Development of Kilinochchi District should get out of Kilinochchi was proposed by MP, S.Sritharan and the CM, C.V. Wigneswaran seconded this resolution saying that the Government Officers should stop serving the Army and cooperate with us toget them out.
The Coordinating Committee meetinced at around 9.30 a.m. yesterday and when the Town Development, Educational Development and other general development plans were taken up for discussion. At that time MP, Siritharan said that the Army is the blockade in development programs and they have under their control around 40% of the land in the Kilinochchi town.
It was also mentioned that if the Army is removed completely from the district development plans could be thought of. MP, Siritharan, who is one of the Co-Chairs, also produced the details regarding the agricultural farms, Sugar cane farms, and other agricultural land occupied by the Army. If the Army stays here we cannot provide a development scheme to the people. Therefore they should get from here and go to their own places.
Speaking on this the CM said that although we have talked enough about this to President and Prime Minister and we have also informed the UNHR Commissioner who visited the North about this. We are taking all possible, but, even after 6 years passing from the end of the war the government is saying that they are for security purpose. Hence the Government officers should keep oinme thing in mind. We come to acertain level of authority and they should stop aiding and abetting the Army and work with us to get them out. If we get together we can do several things, he said in seconding the resolution.
