51 ½ kgm. Ganja captured in Kallaru beach in Silavathurai. Smugglers go into hiding

Mannar Police yesterday announced that, Mannar District anti- drugs unit captured 51 ½   kgs. of Kerala Ganja worth about Rs.550,000/= at the Kallaru beach in Silavathurai day before yesterday.

On a tip-off received by the Mannar Police, a police headed by SI, H.M.W. Herath had sped to Musaly.

They combined with the navy and undertook a search but just before their arrival the smugglers had fled abandoning 14 packages containing 51½  Kilos. of Kerala Ganja.

SI Herath of the anti-drugs squad said that no suspect had been arrested and their inquiries are continuing.
