We will not allow Thermal Power Station in Sampur if people will be affected: says Sampanthan

We are aware that problems will be created by the proposed Sampur Thermal power Station, but we will not allow Sampur people to get affected by it, said Leader of the Oppositions, Era Sampantha.

He was speaking in an event to hand over 177 acre land including two schools, Sampur MV and Sri Murugan MV,Vinayagar Temple, Agricultural union building, COOP building, Library and Sampur PS, to the people.546 families received the lands in an event held at the Sampur MV.

The Minister of Resettlement, D.M.Swaminathan, Eastern Province Governor, Austin Fernando, CM, EPC, Nasheer Mohamed, and several EPC members participated in this event

As for environment, we and the Government have responsibilities. I will meet the Sampur people and expert regarding this soon and find out their opinions.
