Bigger Navy camp in close proximity to the old camp at Sampur, handed over to the people

A Colombo media had quoted a Navy Officer as saying the that a new and bigger Navy Camp had been established near the old camp which was handed over to the people.

After Sampur coming under security forces in 2006 September, navy established a camp in the lands of the people in extent of 237 acre. It was christened as SLNS Vudura in 2013. Last year around 60 acres were released to the people by the President and the navy handed over the balance 177 acre after shifting the camp to a new location.

A high level Navy Officer said although the old camp had been abandoned the new and bigger camp had been established near the old camp and there will be no change in the security of the area.
