Sinhala colonization continuing on Tamil Homeland & Reconciliation will be devastated

TELO condemned attempts to swallow Tamil lands by establishing Sinhala colonies like the housing scheme for the Army families established in Vavuniya. This sort acts will devastate reconciliation and should be brought to an end soon, it had said.

51 houses had been built in the Vavuniya South Division and are to be handed to Sinhala Army families and families of Tamil girls married to Sinhala soldiers.

Some time back 4,500 Sinhalese families  were settled in the Mahaweli left bank through scheme commenced 3 years back by the previous government and completed by current regime. This colonization was undertaken despite the continuous opposition from the TNA. The current housing scheme is a continuation of colonizing Tamil lands with Sinhalese people observers said.

This Government elected by the Tamil people engaging in such activities will not help reconciliation in anyway. These activities should be brought to an end soon, The TELO statement said.
