Don’t construct Thermal Power Station in Sampur, Demonstration by Resettlers

A protest demonstration was held in front of Sampur Arasady Vinayagar Temple by Resettling villagers of Sampur demanding that the Thermal Power Station shold not be established in Sampur, Muthur East, Trincomalee.

Social level representatives, Women’s Organization, Representatives of Fisheries Societies and general public participated in this protest and Memorandum was handed over to Member of Eastern Provincial Council, K.Nageswaran to be sent to the President Maithripala Sirisena.

They have said in the Memorandum that while thanking the Government for ending their Displace Life they appeal to him that this project which make them lose their paddy fields , plantation and Fishing areas directly, should not be implemented neither in Sampur nor in any other part of the country.
