Construction of Vihre at Kokkilai proceeding despite ban order by Land Ministry

The construction of a Vihare on private land at Kokkilai is continuing despite orders from Ministry of Lands to stop it. No action had been taken by any faction against this un-authorized construction.

The construction of Sri Sambothy vihare is being carried out from 2012. The Military is assisting this construction in all possible ways.

The owner of the land Manivannathas had complained to the Land Kacheri held in 2015 and the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Lands and the Assistant Director of land policies ruled that the encroached land belongs to Mannivannathas and ordered the construction be stopped.

Although the Northern Governor had promised that he will visit the construction site and take action, he had not visited the site as scheduled.
