5th missing person identified from Channel 4 photograph
A person alleged missing during the last stages of the past war was identified being alive and under the control of the Army from a photograph published by the Channel 4. Incidentally he is the 5th person to be identified being alive and under Army control from the Channel 4 Photographs.
When the sittings of the Commission on Missing persons resumed yesterday in Kilinochchi, Arunthavachelvy Uthayarasa testified with a photograph showing her husband Gnnachelvam Uthayarasa (Aged 40 when surrendering to the Army) being undressed, led to a large pit and being seated near the pit.
She testified that her husband, a Batticaloa District member of the LTTE, surrendered to the Army on 2009 may 19th. My two children and myself saw him surrendering to the Army. After that nothing was known about his whereabouts.
Now I am in possession of Channel 4 Photographs of my husband being undressed, led and seated near a pit. These photographs are evidences to show that the Army had detained and tortured him. Find him for me, she begged, but the commissioners just stared at the photos dumbfounded.
