Mullaitheevu Fishermen hold a Black May Day

The World Worker’s day (May Day) which was celebrated on a grand scale everywhere else was commemorated as a Black May Day by the Fisher folks of Mullaitheevu. Fishermen, Fishermen Cooperatives and their union joined in to commemorate the May Day as a Black May Day.

Black flags were flown in several areasand in the boats of the fishermen.

The domination of other district fishermen were increasing every day and no action had been taken the curb this. AS a protest to this we are holding a black May Day today they said.
