Paranagama Committee struggling with Balachandran, Isaipriya Murders
The President’s Commission on Missing Persons had said that they are facing problems in investigating about the incident that Balachandran, the youngest son LTTE Leader Prabaharan and the Nitharsanam News telecaster , Isaipriya were alleged to be killed during the last stages of the war.
The testimonies of only 2 persons had been recorded by the Commission so far. Meanwhile actions are afoot to dissolve this Commission.The Commissioner of the Commission, Maxwell Paranagama had said that he is not certain whether the inquiries could be finalized.He had also said they have brought the activity of rcording complaints from people regarding people who had gone missing.
Altogether around 25,000 complainta had been received by the Commission. There are some dual entries in them and hence the exact number coul not be told. Inquiries on Balachandran and Isaipriya had to be held. Only two persons have testified in these cases.I am not sure whether the inquiries could be finalized. If te Commission is dissolved the relevant files will be handed over to the relevant factions, he said. The sittings of the commission to be held in Batticaloa this month had been cancelled.
