5,341 acre land in Thellipalai Divisional Secretariat area under the control Tri-Forces

The Thellipalai Divisional Secretary S.Srimohan informed the Coordination Committee meeting, held at the DS Secretariat that, 5,341.28 acre of the people are still occupied by the Tri-Forces. 9,968 families have registered for resettlement.940 families have resettled. Another 765 families are to be resettled soon. Further 727 families are anticipated to settled next.  A part of the resettled people had been provided with new housing. We are ready to give 2300 houses to the resettles, but they will be given to people who would construct temporary housings and settle in them, he explained

Co-Chair Wijekala Maheswaran protested that, people who had settled elsewhere for easy travelling cannot be insisted to settled immediately and that government officers also should be provided with housing.

Former Vice-chairman of Vali-North PS, S.Sajeevan pointed out the problem in woman leadership families in settling immediately.

Answering   these concerns the DS said that although he is supportive of the concerns present, the current laws will not allow such concerns and that a resolution for changing theses rules and regulations to suit the presented concerns. The position of the DS was accepted and it was decided to pass a resolution as he had suggested.
